As a leading destination for wellbeing, sustainability, and hospitality, we are looking for a proactive and skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our Facilities Team and support the smooth operation of our diverse and dynamic Estate. Role Overview As a Maintenance Assistant at Broughton Sanctuary, you will play a key role in ensuring our hospitality spaces, Estate buildings, and guest facilities are safe, well-maintained, and functioning to the highest standards. This is a semi-skilled role, ideal for someone with a trade background who takes pride in their work and has a can-do attitude. You will carry out planned maintenance, respond to day-to-day repairs, and conduct statutory checks across a wide variety of buildings including historic spaces, retreat areas, guest cottages, and commercial properties. Key Responsibilities • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across all hospitality and estate buildings • Conduct legionella testing, emergency lighting checks, and fire door inspections in accordance with compliance requirements • Support pool plant operations (e.g., backwashing, water testing) • Conduct boiler and generator checks (biomass and oil) • Assist with vehicle maintenance – including vans, ATVs, and plant machinery • Undertake basic plumbing, joinery, and electrical repairs in line with experience • Respond to reactive maintenance issues, including weekend call-outs on a rota basis • Carry out general estate support – tidiness, minor repairs, external area upkeep • Provide support during guest retreats and events as needed • Liaise with other departments to ensure a seamless guest and staff experience Requirements • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in general maintenance or a relevant trade role • Background in joinery or plumbing preferred • Good working knowledge of compliance requirements (e.g. lighting, water, fire safety testing) • Practical, hands-on problem-solver with great attention to detail • Friendly, professional, and dependable team player • Full UK driving licence essential • Physical ability to perform manual tasks and occasional outdoor work in all weather conditions Essential Requirements • Flexibility to work weekends (2 per month on rotation) • 40 hours per week • A driver with access to own vehicle Benefits • Company pension scheme • Annual discretionary bonus • Free access to Sanctuary Wellbeing Schedule • Subsidised meals at Utopia Bistro • Family & Friends discounts on Sanctuary events and stays • Opportunity to work in a truly unique and beautiful environment How to Apply If you take pride in your craft and would love to be part of a dynamic team in an inspiring setting, we’d love to hear from you.
