The Role
Key purpose of the role: To assist in the operation of the Building Control service to ensure that statutory requirements under the Building Act, Building Regulations, and associated legislation are fulfilled.
The client is offering a full‑time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority Building Control environment.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and is offering £70 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £57 per hour PAYE), depending on experience and grade.
Key responsibilities
* Assessing Building Regulation applications for compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
* Conducting site inspections and ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and client requirements.
* Investigating breaches of Building Regulations and taking appropriate enforcement action.
* Providing guidance and advice to applicants, agents, and members of the public.
* Responding to dangerous structures and supervising demolition works in accordance with statutory duties.
* Preparing reports and attending court as necessary.
* Supporting the development of marketing opportunities and service improvement initiatives.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require:
* Level 6 qualification in Building Control or equivalent.
* Corporate membership (or working toward) of CABE, RICS, or CIOB.
* Relevant experience working within a Building Control environment.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
* Strong working knowledge of the Building Act, Building Safety Act, and associated legislation.
* Experience conducting risk assessments, determining fees, and validating Building Regulation applications.
* Excellent communication, customer service, and problem‑solving skills.
