Project Details
The successful Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects typically valued between £250,000 and £6 million. Projects are delivered across the UK, often centred around specialist engineering works within the construction sector.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial team in managing costs, contracts, and project performance across multiple schemes.
Assist in the commercial management of civil engineering projects from inception to completion
1. Support administration of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts
2. Assist with early warning notices and compensation events
3. Prepare and manage cost reports, valuations, and forecasts
4. Support programme and risk register integration
5. Assist in identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
6. Work closely with project teams to ensure cost control and budget adherence
7. Contribute to subcontractor procurement and management
8. Attend client and internal meetings as required
9. Occasionally travel to project sites across the UK
Desired Skills and Experience
This role is suited to a developing Quantity Surveyor with experience in civil engineering or construction projects and a desire to build strong NEC contract knowledge.
10. Experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor within construction or civil engineering
11. Basic to intermediate knowledge of NEC3 or NEC4 contracts
12. Understanding of early warning notices and compensation events processes
13. Strong numerical and analytical skills
14. Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
15. Ability to manage workload across multiple projects
16. Strong communication and teamwork skills
17. Willingness to learn and develop professionally
18. Ability to travel occasionally to UK project sites
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
19. Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline
20. Working towards professional accreditation (e.g. RICS) is desirable
21. Relevant construction or contract management training advantageous
