NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. An opportunity has arisen to join our pharmaceutical production team as a Pharmacy Support Worker at an exciting time for the service. Duties include assisting with the manufacture and packing of a variety of medicines to high standards and meeting tight deadlines.

NHS Scotland Pharmaceutical Specials Service (PSS) provides a national service, hosted and managed by NHS Tayside, to ensure that patients across the UK have access to quality unlicensed medicines that are not commercially available from licensed manufacturers or are in short supply, and to provide Investigational Medicinal Products for clinical trials and research across the UK. PSS operates under licence from a purpose-built, state of the art facility on the Ninewells Hospital site in Dundee. Product range includes creams, ointments, gels, suppositories, pessaries, enemas, oral and topical liquids, eye drops, eye lotions, pre-filled syringes, injections and infusions which are required to meet the clinical needs of patients. Other services include medicines re-packing, over-labelling and assembly of emergency pouches.

The aim of the production department is to provide a responsive and high-quality service which ensures all medicinal products are fit for their intended use and do not place patients at risk due to inadequate safety, quality or efficacy.

NHSS PSS is a values-based service showing:

1. Care & Compassion
2. Dignity & Respect
3. Openness, honesty and responsibility
4. Quality & teamwork
