Our Service

Lancashire Archives and Local History cares for 900 years of the countys history. Millions of items are stored on 9 miles of shelving in the strongrooms in Preston. Our collections include everything from medieval parchments to digital sound recordings. We collect and preserve archives so that Lancashires stories will be told in the future and to ensure they are also available for everyone to use and enjoy today. We are an Accredited Archive Service and we are supported by an amazing team of volunteers and the Friends of Lancashire Archives.

Our Plan

Over the next 2 years we plan to continue to develop our offer at Burnley Library, in partnership with our Library colleagues, through our exciting Clarets Collected project. Funded by Friends organisation, this project started two years ago with the aim to bring together a fan-led Burnley Football Club archive collection at Burnley Library and develop associated events, exhibitions and a primary school session, as well as provide volunteering opportunities.

The collection itself has grown significantly over the last two years, and although there will be more work do on its development, the main focus for the successful candidate will be developing and delivering our primary school session and supporting our volunteer offer. Events and exhibitions will be worked on and delivered as and when resource allows.

The Role

The successfully candidate will:

* Recruit and train volunteers, and plan, supervise and celebrate their successes
