SEND & SEMH Teaching Assistant – Darwen
Location: Darwen, Lancashire

Contract: Full-time, Term-time only
Pay: £85–£95 per day (depending on experience)
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND & SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Darwen. This role involves working closely with pupils who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing tailored support to help them achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
Implement behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation techniques.
Support pupils with personal development and social skills.
Work collaboratively with the SENCO and other staff to create a positive learning environment.
Requirements:
Previous experience working with SEND and/or SEMH pupils (school or care setting).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
A genuine passion for supporting children’s education and wellbeing.
Desirable: Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, Team Teach, or similar).
