Plant Workshop Manager required in Wiltshire, Swindon.
The yard hold's a fleet of LGV, HGV’s and a variety of heavy plant. Previous experience as a depot or workshop supervisor is crucial to the role and you must have managed a team of fitters & drivers.
Roles & Responsibilities:
As Workshop Manager control and manage a small team of mechanics and drivers, instruct and manage their workload effectively.
Organise the efficient and expedient repair and maintenance of the plant and transport fleet, including scheduling of 6 week and MOT inspections.
Review 3rd Party & in house vehicle / plant Inspection Reports and Defect Reports and ensure safety defects are made good with immediate effect.
Ensure that all fitters’ repair tasks are allocated Syrinx work order numbers, and the closing job sheets capture all labour hours and parts used.
Ensure compliance of haulage legislation (CPC Road haulage)
Help manage fleet and plant trackers.
Distribution and ordering of fuel cards.
Ensure off-hired plant is inspected and any damage or shortage is reported and quoted for in a timely manner. Repairs must restore safety features and preserve asset value.
Collaborate with manufacturers to resolve technical issues.
Carry out regular toolbox talks and record attendance.
Ensure the Syrinx system is utilised for recording all machine repairs and the planning of maintenance and inspections.
Ensure that procedures in place or introduced are followed to allow the effective capture of the information required to manage the repair and maintenance activities.
Implement and maintain effective maintenance schemes for all fleet plant and vehicles.
Coordinate LOLER and PUWER inspections of all plant and transport and ensure certificates are saved to Syrinx folders.
Schedule and oversee all workshop activities to ensure optimum cost efficiency and maximum availability.
Communicate details of breakdowns and the progress of ongoing repairs at the daily briefings.
Assist site managers with plant issues and other requests where possible.
Procure parts and consumables from the most cost-effective sources.
Ensure purchase orders are raised for all parts, consumables and services and the order number is communicated to the supplier at the time of ordering.
Follow up the progress of parts, service, and material orders to delivery.
Investigate invoice queries and resolve promptly with suppliers.
Ensure workshop consumables and fitters’ van stocks are kept at a reasonable level.
Ensure supplier delivery notes and worksheets are handed promptly to the Hire Desk Assistant to allow the receipt of goods and services on Syrinx and the accurate allocation of fitters’ labour.
Make recommendations relating to the acquisition of new and replacement plant.
General ad-hoc workshop duties such as waste oil collection, disposal of batteries and tyres etc.
Requirements:
At least 3 years in a similar role as Workshop Manager.
Successful and proven progression (fitter – supervisor - manager).
NVQ in plant maintenance or equivalent.
People management skills.
Willing to evoke positive change.
