About The Role
EKFB (joint venture of Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction and BAM Nuttall) is seeking a Soil Scientist to join our team in Aylesbury.
Responsibilities
* Audit stockpiling, management, handling and auditing of topsoil and subsoil stockpiles to satisfy contract requirements.
* Work with and direct the site team in operations and record soil management information.
* Assess stockpiled soil condition (physical characteristics such as plasticity and soil storage/handling practices), inspect soil reconditioning windrows, restored soil profiles and conduct ITP review.
* Provide soil condition reports detailing the restoration works undertaken.
* Understand engineering and construction requirements and methods of a large construction scheme.
* Work independently, make decisions and maintain communication lines on site.
* Provide direction and advice to contractors as needed; deliver practical solutions.
* Lead soil scientists/practitioners conducting soil surveys; have experience in field surveys and recording natural physical properties of soils.

Key Skills and Qualifications
* Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in soil science, geography, geology or a related environmental discipline.
* Member of the British Society of Soil Science (M.I. Soil Sci) – highly desirable.
* Professional soil scientist with competence in Agricultural Land Classification (ALC).
* Track record in soil science research or application – preferably on infrastructure projects.
* Proficient using GIS systems and MS Office productivity packages.
* Sound knowledge of soils and ability to identify soil types on site – including ALC grading.
* Logical approach to soil surveying and recording the in‑situ profile.
* Proficient in use of IT.
* Current CSCS card holder.
* Valid driving licence required.
