This role sits within the Water Consultancy Division, which focuses on water and wastewater challenges, from advisory services to construction support. You will have control of your career path with mentoring and training to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
Responsibilities and contributions
* Develop hydraulic models using packages such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, and ICM to design Flood Alleviation Schemes, deliver Flood Risk Assessments, and conduct reservoir flood studies
* Analyze data using ArcGIS, QGIS, Python, and Microsoft Excel
* Produce high-quality client reports
* Undertake hydrological assessments including Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2, and WINFAP
You will also have the opportunity to develop project management and business development skills, and to mentor and train junior staff.
Candidate specification
Essential
* Experience in delivering flood risk management studies
* Experience using hydraulic modelling software
* Degree-level qualification in hydrology, geography, mathematics, civil engineering, or a related discipline
* Good communication and written skills
* Well organised and able to prioritise your own workload with minimal supervision
* Understand the importance of prioritising health, safety and environmental issues
Desirable
* Professional consultancy experience in flood modelling and flood risk management
* Working towards chartership with an appropriate professional body (e.g. ICE, CIWEM, IMA)
* Experience in managing flood risk studies
* Knowledge of flood modelling software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS or ICM
* Knowledge of ArcGIS, QGIS and Python
