Supporting the School Library Service (SLS) to process returned stock from schools
Here at the SLS we provide fiction and nonfiction books to over 60 schools in the East Riding Of Yorkshire.
We collect these books at the end of each term to discharge them from the schools and return them to our stack.
We collect, on average, almost 20,000 books over a 3 day period and need to return them to our stack so they can be reissued for the following term.
To support us in achieving this we need support from 4 casual staff at the end of each term.
Duties include:
* Unloading Project Boxes from schools
* Using Reading Cloud to check book stock back in (full training provided)
* Restocking shelves with returned stock.
The position is based at our Melton Site on Redcliffe Road, HU14 3RS.
You will on your feet all day and moving and lifting books from trolleys to the shelf, the books are not heavy but you will be re-shelving them all day.
Hours required are 4 days (no weekends) at the end of each term, 8.30am to 4pm, on average 15 days per year.
Dates are provided for the full academic year to allow your personal planning, at time of advertising the dates we need are 11th, 12th,15th,16,and 17th December 2025, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th March 2026, 14th, 15th, 16, 17th, July 2026 and 15, 16th, 17, 18th December 2026.
