Responsibilities and duties of the Planning and Environmental Consultant role Reporting to the Planning Director, you will: Provide technical leadership on planning and environmental projects, ensuring feasibility, compliance, and alignment with project goals. Manage planning applications, environmental assessments, budgets, and resources across multiple projects. Mentor and support junior consultants, reviewing and developing their technical work. Keep abreast of planning policy and environmental regulations, advocating for policies that support renewable energy. Produce and review high-quality planning and environmental reports, ensuring they are client-ready. Use software such as GIS, Resoft Windfarm, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Photoshop to create engaging project outputs. Build strong client relationships through clear, professional, and proactive communication. Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities and helping clients overcome challenges. Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following: A degree in Town Planning, Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, or related discipline (RTPI or IEMA membership desirable). Strong technical knowledge of UK planning and environmental legislation, particularly in renewable energy. Demonstrable experience of successfully managing planning applications and environmental assessments. Proficiency in relevant software tools (GIS, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop).
