Our client, a reputable educational institution in Bideford, Devon, is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assisting students with special educational needs (SEN) to reach their full potential and thrive in an inclusive learning environment.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and other support staff to provide tailored support to individual students or small groups. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that each student receives the necessary guidance, encouragement, and assistance to access the curriculum effectively and make progress in their learning journey.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

* Collaborating with the class teacher to develop and implement personalised learning plans for students with SEN
* Providing one-to-one or small group support to students, adapting teaching materials and resources to meet their specific needs
* Encouraging student participation in classroom activities and promoting a positive learning environment
* Monitoring and recording student progress, sharing observations and insights with the class teacher and other relevant staff members
* Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of learning resources and displays
* Supporting students with personal care needs, such as toileting and hygiene, when necessary
* Supervising students during breaks, lunchtimes, and on school trips or outings

To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

* A relevant teaching assistant qualification or equivalent experience working with children with SEN
* A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN and strategies to support their learning and well-being
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
* A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to working with children
* Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of individual students
* Proficiency in using technology to support learning, such as interactive whiteboards and educational software
* A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with best practices in SEN support
