This is a Temporary Ward Administrator role at Pinhoe View, a new purpose-built facility where a range of mental health services are provided for adults with acute mental health conditions across two wards and eight individual flats. The 24-hour acute inpatient service is supported by a full multidisciplinary team, which specialises in the assessment, treatment and stabilisation of people suffering from a significant mental health episode and in crisis.
Main duties of the job
As a Ward Administrator, you will provide day-to-day administrative support for the wards, including updating service users’ information, managing the ward diary, updating service users’ timetables and minute taking. You will also be responsible for arranging meetings, typing up all correspondence and documentation, and assisting the Ward Manager in the management of the ward’s budget.
Responsibilities
* Assisting in the development, implementation, and evaluation of effective systems within the unit, and between units and groups.
* Acting as a link between the public, outside professionals and other hospital departments and wards in respect of routine telephone calls and general enquiries.
* Making diary entries, room bookings and transport bookings as required.
* Maintaining confidentiality at all times regarding patients, staff and hospital business.
* Maintaining, evaluating and updating the unit’s filing and record‑keeping systems.
* Providing clerical/typing duties as required, ensuring confidentiality of all clinical/administrative records.
* Assisting the Ward Manager in the management of the ward’s budget, ensuring good accounting practice within the activity budget books.
Qualifications
* Previous experience within a similar role and/or environment.
* Knowledge of healthcare terminology.
* Experience of typing up medical reports and patient discharge letters.
* GCSE English, C or above.
