Tasks
Your main tasks include, among others:
1. To hand degrease/machine wash commercial aircraft components
2. To load and unload large degrease/paint softening tanks
3. To load and operate plastic media blast booths; internally and externally
4. To check components are clean and protected from damage in readiness for inspection
5. An awareness of the Major Accident Prevention Plan (MAPP)
6. To ensure that the part is protected for being damaged
7. Operating cranes
8. All duties shall be undertaken in compliance with Safety and Environmental Regulations and Company Procedures
9. An awareness and understanding of responsibilities outlined in the Company’s environmental procedures
10. You will be required to maintain Practical Experience Record (PER) book
11. You may be required to train personnel with a specified area subject to your qualifications and experience
Requirements
The ideal Paint Strip Mechanic should meet the following requirements:
12. GCSE 9-5 grades or equivalent
13. Apprenticeship within Engineering
14. Previous Paint Strip experience would be desirable
15. Illustrate previous knowledge and experience of use of hand tools
16. Good knowledge, awareness and understanding of PPE and Manual Handling
17. It would be preferable but not essential for the applicant to have worked in an aerospace environment
18. Great team player
19. Ability to work under own initiative
20. Able to follow instruction and learn / absorb working methods
21. Excellent approach to Quality and Health and safety
22. Monday – Friday or Tuesday – Saturday (depending business needs)
23. 5 hours per week
24. May require additional overtime hours to be worked
25. Able to work shifts (06.00 – 14:00 or 14:25 – 22:25)
26. Occasional lifting and pushing of heavy components
27. Right to work within the UK without any restrictions
