ROLE: Accounts Payable Specialist (14‑Month FTC)
LOCATION: Gloucester

We're looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist who will support efficient supplier invoice processing across multiple company entities, helping maintain accurate financial records and ensuring timely, compliant payment activities.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Support the Accounts Payable Team with daily processing activities to drive efficiency and reduce queries.
2. Monitor shared inboxes and manage overall workflow to maintain service levels.
3. Review payment runs and ensure payments are posted accurately and on time.
4. Maintain entity ledgers, processing purchase invoices with correct VAT treatment.
5. Approve new supplier accounts on the Sage accounting system as required.
6. Act as an escalation point to support query resolution and accurate processing.
7. Complete supplier statement reconciliations.
8. Assist in reviewing and reducing debit balances.
9. Highlight potential fraud risks or concerns to mitigate business risk.
10. Contribute to entity‑reduction activities as part of combining business units.
11. Support the transition of work into the Mitie Shared Services function over the next 14 months.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the below defined requirements for the role:
12. Previous experience in a similar Accounts Payable role.
13. Experience using SAGE (desirable, full training provided).
14. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
15. Strong organisational skills with the ability to flex across varying workloads.
16. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
17. Competent user of Excel.
18. A strong team player with a proactive, “hands‑on” approach.
19. Experience transitioning work to another system or provider (beneficial).
