Buyer

Location: Sheffield, United Kingdom. 2 days a week in office.

Responsibilities

* Responsible for the correct placement and fulfilment of purchase orders to distributors, including proactive confirmation of purchase orders and obtaining tracking information for shipments, in line with audit requirements.
* Recommend major purchases of materials based on anticipated price changes or unusual availability situations, balancing cash flow against potential price savings.
* Liaise with Sales and Support teams to inform them of availability and delivery dates to maximise sales potential.
* Ensure delivery dates in the system are accurate and updated where applicable.
* Backlog management: ensure all POs are placed on receipt and follow up with distributors for ETAs.
* Manage incoming workflow requests, ensuring all tickets are responded to within SLA.
* Adhere to Insight’s policies and procedures in line with revenue recognition.
* Respond to email requests from Sales and Support regarding post-supply issues within SLA.
* Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and maintain good communications.
* Liaise with suppliers over pricing and supply issues.
* Manage and update aged inventory aligned with targets set by management.
* Liaise with Product Management around deal stock to maximise competitive pricing.
* Ensure fill-rates are met in line with the buyer’s category targets.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge And Experience

* Working towards a recognised qualification; educated to degree level or equivalent work experience.
* Evidence of continuing professional development; holds relevant professional qualification (e.g. CIPS).
* Out-going, personable, responsible, self-motivated and confident; proactive communicator.
* High level of written and spoken English; ability to develop and exploit productive relationships both inside and outside the team.
* Fully conversant with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel and Word); ability to identify and implement effective systems to monitor performance.
* Experience of providing a high level of client service; strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to negotiate, influence and build trust.
* Ability to work as part of a team and independently; ability to build and strengthen working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to build relationships, set expectations and negotiate with IT Vendors; awareness of competitors and willingness to extend knowledge of the IT industry.
* Excellent understanding of product type, product range, software and hardware categories; ability to interpret and analyse business and technical reports and present to senior stakeholders.
* Experience with supply chain work; results-oriented with ability to plan and deliver against deadlines.
* Good knowledge of licensing terms and ability to deal with software categories; self-developer who invests in own development and encourages others.
