This position involves working with GM's Motorsports Software team to analyze, define, and deliver innovative Motorsports IT software solutions. The role requires building cloud-based systems, collaborating with engineering and race teams, and focusing on aerodynamics systems design.

Hybrid: Up to 3 days per week onsite at Charlotte or Austin Technical Centers.
The Team
GM’s Motorsports Software team develops next-generation software solutions for NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA teams, enabling competitive advantages on race day and in production vehicle development.
The Role
The Staff Software Engineer provides technical leadership and software delivery, with expertise in scalable cloud systems, solution architecture, and hands-on development. The role focuses on aerodynamics systems design and building scalable, modern applications.
Responsibilities
1. Lead a team developing GM Motorsports aero-thermal applications, including CFD modeling and visualization.
2. Design solution architectures and lead team consensus.
3. Focus on modern application design, modular frameworks, and system integration.
4. Identify and fill value gaps in aerodynamics processes.
5. Resolve technical blockers and ensure smooth delivery milestones.
6. Manage scrum story delivery and contribute to build frameworks, testing, and deployment.
7. Collaborate with team members and ensure reliable, self-managed delivery.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field.
* Expertise in CFD systems, microservices, or data streaming platforms.
* Experience with full stack application development and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
* 5+ years in microservices development.
* 2+ years in web services design and development.
* Proficiency with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD practices.
* Experience in agile/scrum environments.

* Strong technical decision-making and communication skills.
* Collaborative work style with good listening skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in a technical discipline.
* Knowledge of aerodynamics, AI/ML, VR frameworks, data streaming, and cross-platform development.

* Understanding of data serialization and system models.
* Passion for Motorsports and high-paced environments.
