SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Wilmslow)
Start Date: September | Daily Rate: £89 – £100 | Full-Time
Are you patient, nurturing, and passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Wilmslow is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September.
This is a rewarding role where you’ll work closely with students who have a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with identified SEND
* Adapt learning materials to suit individual learning styles and needs
* Assist teachers in delivering a differentiated and inclusive curriculum
* Monitor and support emotional wellbeing and classroom engagement
* Build trusting relationships with students and act as a consistent, calming presence
* Work closely with the SENCO and wider support team to track progress and contribute to EHCP reviews
Ideal Candidate:
* Experience working with children or young people with SEND (in school, care, or support settings)
* Calm, resilient, and empathetic with a genuine desire to help students achieve
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Confident in managing behaviour positively and supportively
* Reliable, proactive, and open to professional development
Desirable (but not essential):
* Knowledge of EHCPs and strategies for supporting specific needs (e.g. ASD, SEMH)
* Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant training
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
