Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Medicines Administrator that provides support to our GPs, Pharmacist, and ACP in the receipt and preparation of prescriptions for our patients.

You will be the main point of contact for Patients and the MOLs (Medicines Order Line) enquiries about their prescriptions, so resilience is important.

You will be liaising on sensitive medical information, so a caring customer service communication style is essential. You will be resolving medication issues and so initiative is important.

To thrive in this role, you will enjoy the challenge of lots of moving parts that require you to use your exceptional organisational and prioritising skills, combined with top level attention to detail. Problem solving on a day-to-day basis on issues relating to your work, you will also enjoy working closely as a Team to achieve shared objectives and ensure daily priorities are delivered. Patients expect a high standard of service and outstanding customer service, so working as a team to meet and manage these expectations is vital.


Main duties of the job

Your core responsibilities will include:

* Process repeat prescription requests from patients, pharmacies, Medicine Order Line, in line with practice policies.
* Ensure prescriptions are accurately prepared and available for GP approval within appropriate timeframes.
* Manage electronic and paper prescription requests, ensuring compliance with Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) protocols.
* Identify and prevent over-ordering of medications, highlighting discrepancies to the prescribing team.
* Assist in drug monitoring, ensuring compliance with agreed protocols and safety guidelines.
* Support pharmacists with medicines management safety audits.
* Manage medication changes following hospital discharge or specialist advice.
* Book patient appointments for medication reviews and monitoring.


About us

Park Lane Surgery is a small, but busy GP practice; based in the rural area of Allestree, Derby, with over 8400 patients and 4 GP partners.

We are forward thinking and pro-active, always aiming to maintain the highest standards of practice, to deliver excellent care to our patients as well as protecting the safety and well-being of staff.

The way that we work is continually evolving, especially so in the last couple of years. We adapt quickly to new ways of working and embrace improvements to practice processes and technology as they become available.

We are also part of a forward thinking and dynamic Primary Care Network and benefit from a wide group pf ARRS roles including Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, Physiotherapists and supported by a team of Care Coordinators.

We are a medical student teaching practice, teaching all years from 1 to 5 at various times throughout the year.

* Conduct audits and run reports to support prescription service improvements.
* Update patient records with medication changes and review dates.

Quality and Compliance

* Ensure adherence to policies on controlled drug prescriptions and restricted items.
* Report and support investigations into prescription-related incidents.
* Contribute to maintaining high standards of care by identifying areas for improvement.
