Our new Patient Support Centre based in St Mellons is recruiting for a Bank Switchboard Operator to join their team on a zero-hours contract. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a confident approach to handling a variety of systems
The Switchboard Operator is the first point of contact for many patients and healthcare professionals. Managing all incoming and outgoing telephone communications, ensuring calls are handled efficiently, courteously, and in line with hospital protocols, the role is an advocate of excellent customer care whilst working as a team. To make a positive difference to our patients lives through outstanding personalised care.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Operating the central switchboard system to manage internal and external calls for multiple hospital sites.
2. First point of contact for all switchboard telephone communications, directing calls to appropriate Spire Healthcare hospital staff/departments/key stakeholders.
3. Ensuring telephone enquiries are dealt with in line with the company standards in a professional, consistent and efficient manner, to facilitate smooth communication minimising missed calls.
4. Escalate technical issues or service disruptions to IT or telecoms support teams.
5. In the event of emergency situations responsible for initiating emergency call procedures (. fire, major incident).
Who we're looking for
6. GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
7. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, especially during emergencies.
9. Enthusiastic, self-motivated, able to prioritise and work accurately under pressure.
10. Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
11. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection regulations.
12. IT literate with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Desirable:
13. Previous experience in a switchboard or call centre environment is highly desirable.
14. Proficient in using telephone systems.
15. Experience of working in a hospital environment
16. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook and Excel.
Working Hours: Shift-work during Monday-Friday. Saturday working may be required.
