Responsibilities
* Analyse database activity (DBMS errors, daily DBMS space diagnostic checks, DBMS growth, non-application related performance, resource limits, backup process, security and compliance)
* Propose improvements to optimise configuration and performance
* Provide administration support for incidents, problems and changes and perform database shutdowns and restarts
* Collect database statistics, create ad hoc reports and data extracts
* Apply fixes and patches to address security vulnerabilities and conform to vendor recommendations
* Manage system users and groups (create and modify DBMS user IDs) and populate the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) with database configuration items in the ITSM tool
* Manage access control for DBMS in line with Sellafield security baselines; collaborate with the customer on security monitoring and corrective actions
* Monitor scheduled housekeeping jobs, perform regular maintenance and clean-up of the database environment, and ensure correct functioning of tasks
* Handle backup, restore, archiving and deletion processes

* Detailed knowledge of the database layer architecture of applications and schema mapping
* Knowledge of database administration, configuration, clustering, optimization and access management
* Knowledge of Configuration Management
What you will need:
* Experience with Oracle Database
* Comprehensive knowledge of database concepts, data modelling and database applications, with ability to apply knowledge across COTS and bespoke applications
* Solid understanding of Corporate, Industry and Professional Standards
