About The Role

Care South are recruiting for aSales Ledger Assistantto work within the Accounts Team at our Head Office based in Poole, BH14.

- Full time permanent - Monday to Friday (37 hours per week)

- Circa £25,000 per annum (based on experience)

This role is a busy, varied position, where no two days are the same. You will be working within three separate sectors, Care at Home, Assisted living and Residential care. We have two main computer systems for raising invoices for residents and local authorities and a separate accounting package. We also have reconciliation work to complete each month (one resident potentially could have up to four separate accounts which all need balancing).

This is often a time critical role with several invoicing periods in any one month and requires someone who is confident and works well under pressure. Due to the nature of our business, we often take calls from upset and bereaved relatives so we require someone who is comfortable in dealing with those situations and can have a more sensitive and understanding approach, especially when chasing payment.

Finance is a fun team of eleven with various lengths of service and experience and we can offer full training and ongoing support when needed.

Reporting to our Accounts Team Leader - this role will be responsible forprocessing all sales ledger transactions and associated admin.

Responsibilities will include:

- Processing sales ledger transactions including sales invoicing, assisting direct debit administration & collection, receipt processing, credit control and standing data administration.

- Support with overseeing the collection of customer accounts in a manner which ensures a high-quality standard of service & customer satisfaction.

- Liaise as required with Residential Care Homes, Care South at Home offices, senior management and external stakeholdersincludinglocal authorities and customers.

- Assist with the preparation of account reconciliations and investigation & resolution of old or un-reconciled items.

- Support with month-end procedures as required by the Accounts Team Leader and Head of Finance.

- Involvementin testing and implementing enhancements to the relevant systems and processes.

- Maintenance and filing of accounting records as required - updating customer records regarding annual and ad-hoc fee increases and assisting in the issuing of all necessary letters to customers.

Essential Skills & Experience:

You'll need to be extremely numerate, with attention to detail and the ability to process transactions quickly and with accuracy. (Previous experience and understanding of reconciliations and sales ledger processing would be a strong advantage)

Also:

- A comprehensive understanding and experience of using computerised general ledger systems

- Calm and confident telephone manner

- Strong Microsoft Excel & Word
