As an Outside Sales Rep within the Power/HVAC division at United Rentals, you will be the voice and initial point of contact for our industry-leading company. You will use your sales skills to rent and sell specialty engineered power supply and climate control solutions, such as silenced diesel generators and air-conditioning equipment. We'll rely on you to use your exceptional sales and consultative skills to understand the needs of interested parties and turn them into loyal customers. You must be ambitious and outgoing, with a love for calling on customers, building relationships, and selling our equipment and services.
What You'll Do
* Increase revenue for the branch through quality customer service and a strong understanding of specialty engineered rental products including silenced diesel generators, air-cooled chillers, air-conditioning, electric heat, desiccant dehumidification, load banks, and electrical distribution.
* Establish new rental accounts through phone calls and in-person visits to potential customers.
* Present a full range of turnkey services to potential customers.
* Work with technical staff to provide customers with job site assessments, application solutions, equipment sizing, professional quote writing, credit assistance, problem resolution, and follow-up.
* Provide existing accounts with information on other products and services offered by United Rentals, including other specialty lines.
* Give formal sales presentations to customers.
* Educate customers on equipment through demonstrations and training sessions.
* Assist operations staff by following up on invoices and payments.
* Report sales activity using salesforce.com and other tools.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
* 3 years of sales experience.
* Knowledge of construction or related equipment is preferred; however, candidates with comparable industry experience, strong sales skills, and a record of achievement will be considered.
* High intellectual abilities to sell complex products and solutions.
* Equipment troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
* Ability to size, quote, install, and maintain projects involving industrial process cooling, power distribution, and climate control.
* Possibility of handling larger or more complex projects based on experience.
* Strong negotiation, customer service, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic systems.
* Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently.
* Proficiency with MS Office, especially Word and Excel.
* Valid driver's license with acceptable record.
This role includes a base salary plus monthly commissions based on performance, with a minimum guaranteed incentive during onboarding.
This position is deemed Safety Sensitive under United Rentals' policies.
