Physiotherapy Technical Instructor

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Physiotherapy Technical Instructor to join the Hands, Burns, and Plastics team at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. The successful applicant will work alongside a team of Physiotherapists on the wards and in clinics, delivering exercises as prescribed by the Physiotherapist, progressing mobility and promoting exercise. The post holder will demonstrate an ability to work independently when required and prioritise their own caseload.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will have had relevant experience as a Physiotherapy Assistant or Technical Instructor within an appropriate field and bring skills including, effective team working, highly developed communication, IT and moving and handling skills. Attributes will include being flexible, honest, reliable and willing to learn.

Job responsibilities
* Under the supervision of a registered Physiotherapist the Technical Instructor will independently manage a designated caseload of patients, defined as noncomplex, within a specified clinical area, providing assessment and interventions on behalf of the physiotherapist within predetermined guidelines.
* All patients will have an initial assessment carried out by a state registered physiotherapist.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
* Good standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent including Maths and English
* Technical qualification e.g. NVQ Level III Diagnostic and Previous experience of working as a therapy assistant
* Current driving licence
* Associate Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
Knowledge & Experience
* Therapeutic Care or equivalent technical/work experience
* An appreciation of the principles of physiotherapy practices and procedures
* An understanding of manual handling principles
* Experience of working with individuals with a physical disability e.g mobility problems
Skills & Abilities
* Organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Effective written and oral communication skills
* Ability to reflect and appraise own performance
* Ability to take responsibility within agreed protocols
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Able to cope with physical demands of post including using wheelchairs and hoists and the therapeutic moving and handling of patients
* IT Skills
