About your team Fidelity Systematic Investing (FSI) brings together our systematic capabilities across Quant, Equity, Fixed Income and Multi-Asset to deliver solutions to clients. Building a common infrastructure and operating platform to respond to the changing industry landscape and evolving client needs while leveraging Fidelity’s research platform. About your role Advice and support for fund managers Understand the objectives of Portfolio Managers regarding the use of derivatives. Provide advice on structuring, pricing, liquidity costs, and optimising option usage in line with these objectives. Monitor outstanding positions and provide position management advice. Develop screens and other reporting tools to support and enhance investment performance through derivatives strategies. Provide routine commentary, analytics, and ideas for portfolio managers on cross-asset derivatives markets. Initiatives / Product development / Client solution Support the firm’s business growth by collaborating with product, investment, and solution design teams to develop investment strategies and products that meet evolving client demands. Work closely with sales and distribution teams to provide advisory services and investment solutions to our clients. Risk oversight Support Heads of Investments in understanding derivatives positions and risks across portfolios, providing guidance on governance and oversight. Devise and provide commentary on derivative investment reports (trading, risk, performance) in internal review forums. Training and competence Ensure that managers using derivatives are competent in terms of: understanding instrument pricing and risk characteristics, originating and routing orders, monitoring derivative trading activity and portfolio exposures. Deliver or arrange derivative training as necessary to support functions within the investment team. Derivative Operations Play a leadership role in the ongoing development of our derivative capabilities within our investment process: collaborate with other investment practitioners to define derivative processes, tools, and reporting in areas such as trade origination, order management, trade reporting, exposure, risk, and performance monitoring. Broker relationships Continually monitor markets and new instruments to ensure we are accessing listed & OTC instruments and counterparties in a manner that best meets our investment objectives. About you Your skills and experience Experience in financial services, with exposure to equity derivatives; experience across multiple asset classes is beneficial. Practical experience developing or executing derivative strategies, whether in trading, investment management, research, or a similar environment. Ability to code and run back tests for derivatives‑based systematic strategies, and to design the operational framework to support their execution and ongoing management. Strong understanding of financial markets, including how derivative instruments behave in different market environments. Knowledge of portfolio construction and risk management principles. Good understanding of valuation methods and key financial metrics. Technical expertise in derivative instruments and strategies, including pricing, risk drivers, and performance considerations. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex investment ideas clearly to a range of audiences. Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders such as fund managers, researchers, traders, and clients. Professional qualifications such as CFA (or similar) are an advantage but not required. Equivalent experience is welcomed.
