Job ref: EHSPS080426 Job type: Temporary Location: Newry Closing date: Wednesday 22 Apr 2026 13:00 Job Overview Prospective applicants will support the Environmental Health & Safety team to assist the company in meeting & exceeding its legal obligation with regard to all health & safety regulations. Assist in establishing & implementing standards within each site, support audit & inspection routines & work with various departments on continuous improvement of Environmental, Health & safety culture within Norbrook Laboratories Limited. Main Activities/Tasks Ensure practical risk assessments are carried out for all tasks within the company. Report KPIs to company through weekly, monthly EHS meetings and notice boards. Present trend analysis to the EHS manager each month & actively work to drive improvements to trends. Ability to host H&S audits, work with auditors to demonstrate compliance & develop action plans to close any gaps identified through external audits. Organise and deliver H&S training as required. Ensure company sets its employees and contractors to work in a safe manner. Set example for good housekeeping, mind-sets, and behaviours. Complete safety inspections regularly, feedback and follow up on closure of actions. Challenge unsafe systems of work, advise on alternative SSOW. Provide information, instruction and training where required. Use various systems as part of day-to-day activities, e.g., P2P. to assist the EHS Team in their day-to-day duties. Remain up to date with changes in legislation & ensure a continuous improvement approach is developed within the EH&S Department to drive progress. Any other duties as deemed necessary by management. Essential Criteria: Prospective applicants will be educated to A Level standard (or equivalent) and currently studying a Science Related discipline, having successfully completed two years. The successful applicant will have the ability to demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel and will possess excellent communication skills (verbal and written as demonstrated on application form and at interview). The ability to work effectively both on own initiative and within a team environment along with proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy in all work carried out are also essential attributes for this role. In addition, applicants must be available from the beginning of August for a minimum of twelve months. Duration: Full time, fixed term for a period of twelve months. Location: Newry. Additional Information: This role will be based in a site that produces and handles penicillin, and as such, this role would not be suitable for those that have a penicillin allergy.
