The governors are very pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to appoint an apprentice Teaching and Learning Support Assistant to join our successful Nursery school for the duration of the course 18 months and if needed with extra 3 months for provider to assess, starting Monday 5th Jan 2026 We welcome applicants :- who are signed up to an apprenticeship provider but need a work placement. You agree to 1 day week at college and 4 days a week term time only at school (30 hours a week- times set by the school- with unpaid daily dinner break- (or what the provider requires). The 6 weeks holiday with be classed as a break in learning- so you will need to speak to your provider. In the role the apprentice will be required to support and encourage the overall development of the children by ensuring their well-being, development and individual need are being met at all times and to safeguard all children within their care. Skills required We are looking for reliable candidates, with great determination, motivation and enthusiasm. Someone who is flexible and able to work as part of a team, with good communication skills. Shows a willingness to learn further by attending training. You will have passed your functional English and maths level 2 No formal qualifications are required but applicants are required to have the following personal qualities: Patience Passion for childcare Good motivation Reliable Honest and trustworthy Enthusiasm Creative Proven experience with early years 2-4years children through placements in schools or PVI settings. Able to support and encourage the overall development of the children by ensuring their well-being, development and individual needs are being met at all times and to safeguard all children within our care. Planning and implementing appropriate activities and learning opportunities for age-specific children with the ability to adapt accordingly to the children’s individual needs, interests, abilities, understanding etc. Things to consider Depending on home address, travel will be expected. There may be times employees are required to work in the 2s or 3s in order to support with cover or for training purposes. You may also be required to work as a 1:1 supporting a child with SEN (special educational needs). Staff meeting once a fortnight, outside of nursery hours, 3-4pm. Cleaning will be required during shifts and throughout the day About Us A school that is good Ofsted (July 2025) A committed staff team and supportive governing body. Key Requirements who are signed up to an apprenticeship provider but need a work placement. 1 day week at college and 4 days a week term time only at school (30 hours a week- times set by the school) Skills and Experience have proven experience of work experience within a nursery setting with 2-4yr olds have an awareness of the EYFS curriculum and the 7 areas of learning, can support the maintenance of positive links between home and school by working with parents as partners and by liaising with other agencies are willing to contribute to the assessment of pupils through observation, records and discussions with other team members, parents and the Head teacher are willing to shadow a co-ordinator in an EYP area of learning and will be active in developing / maintaining the areas of learning in the EYFS in the learning environment, helping to support and develop other members of staff will actively participate in opportunities for professional development will support in a team approach other adults, including students, parents, governors, external agencies will support the maintenance and development of effective partnership working, all year transition / induction between ourselves and surrounding schools and PVI nursery settings within Bentilee Family Hub and others locally Additional Information The school is committed to safeguarding.
