Estates Compliance Officer Location: Cambridge Salary: Circa £35,000 (The starting salary will reflect the experience and skills of the appointed candidate) The Perse School Cambridge is one of the countrys leading independent co-educational day schools for children aged 3-18. The Role Based within the Estates team, this post is designed to support the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the school estate and promote quality in the compliance discipline. The post holder will be expected to support this via undertaking certain compliance checks, completing associated repairs where suitable, managing contractors on site to ensure compliance in more specialist areas, creating action plans where remedial work is required and ensuring evidence and record keeping of their compliance is clear and well ordered. Duties & Responsibilities: Review the schools existing compliance procedures and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule, advising where adjustments and additions may be made. Undertake regular compliance checks including fire door and emergency lighting inspections and water flushing programmes. Manage contracted compliance inspections and servicing including fire risk assessments, passenger lifts (LOLER), PAT Testing and fixed electric testing. Ensure contractor paperwork checks are suitable, reviewed and recorded. For example, insurances, gas safety certification or asbestos awareness qualifications. Effectively review, file and manage record keeping for ease of review and presentation. This may incorporate CAFM systems and hard copies where relevant. Report on compliance progress and status informing an Estates compliance risk register and estates management. Develop, monitor and review workplace inspections, including PUWER related items and general safety based real estate inspections. Support the Director of Estates and the Building Services and Energy Manager in ensuring the school is compliant with relevant legislation. Inform and review relevant compliance-based policies and procedures. Create action plans to work the school towards a point of compliance wherever remedial works are suggested. Undertaking certain remedial works where suitable, for example, applying fire signage. Take regular utility and green technology meter readings. Maintain and manage certain permit to work items for the school, such as, roof access or hot works permits. Provide project support where compliance-based insights will be beneficial. Any other duties as may reasonably be requested, and which fall within the postholders area of competence. Skills and Qualifications Full UK driving licence Qualification relevant to compliance Has worked in compliance and/or quality control Has worked in facilities management Benefits Paid holiday entitlement is 30 days plus bank holidays per annum, with 5 days to be taken at Christmas and the balance as agreed with the Director of Estates.
