Finance Manager

Forge Talent is exclusively partnering with a high-growth Manchester-based technology business to appoint a newly created Finance Manager role. This position sits at the heart of a scaling organisation and offers the chance to take full ownership of the day to day finance function as the business enters its next phase of expansion.

The Role
As Finance Manager, you will oversee all day-to-day financial operations, ensuring strong controls, accuracy, and financial clarity across the organisation. Working closely with the Finance Director and senior leadership team, you’ll play a key role in cash management, month-end performance, and future planning as the business continues to scale.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage, mentor, and develop the finance/accounts team
* Own and manage the 13-week cashflow forecast
* Oversee banking operations and maintain daily cash balances
* Approve and manage the weekly payment run
* Lead the month-end close process, delivering accurate P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow reporting
* Review and sign off all balance sheet reconciliations and journals
* Prepare statutory accounts and ensure compliance across all filings
* Produce VAT returns and maintain regulatory compliance
* Strengthen financial controls and frameworks as the business scales
* Optimise processes to improve efficiency, transparency, and governance
* Review monthly variance analysis vs budget/forecast
* Build rolling forecasts and support financial planning
* Partner with cross-functional teams (Ops, Tech, Sales) providing financial insight and scenario modelling
* Work closely with the Finance Director to support strategic decision-making
Person Specification
* Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with 1–2 years’ PQE
* Strong Excel ability, comfortable building and maintaining financial models
* Experience with Xero (highly beneficial)
* Excellent attention to detail with a strong understanding of controls
* Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
* Confident communicator, able to translate financial information for non-finance colleagues
