Job Summary
This fixed‑term/secondment training role is for 24 months due to funding. The Swansea Bay University Health Board offers training positions to complete the Pre‑registration Pharmacy Technician programme in Wales. You will gain the experience and qualifications needed to apply for registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Salary & Contract
* Initial salary: Annex 21 Band 4 – 70%, progressing to 75% after 12 months
* £27,898 to £30,615 per annum
* Fixed term, 24 months, full‑time (37.5 hours/week)
* Training funded through Health Education and Improvement Wales / Welsh Government

Responsibilities
* Dispense medicines for in‑patients and out‑patients in a hospital setting
* Participate in purchasing, distribution and ward‑based work
* Complete modern apprenticeship training: full‑time, portfolio of evidence, work‑based assessment, online learning, study days and group work; follow GPhC Standards for Pharmacy Professionals
* Maintain training records and timetables, meet training deadlines, study outside working hours
* Work independently and as part of a pharmaceutical team, communicate with patients and staff effectively
Qualifications & Knowledge (Essential)
* 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 9‑4 (A*–C) in English, Maths and Science
* Proof of qualifications; equivalence may require Essential Skills Wales in communication and number; overseas applicants must provide Statement of Comparability from the UK National Agency of Qualifications & Skills
* Ability to work with full range of pharmacy codes and procedures
* Good verbal and written communication skills; problem‑solving, prioritising, organisational skills
* Ability to use Microsoft Office
* Able to manage sensitive and confidential patient information
Experience (Essential)
* Experience working with people
Experience (Desirable)
* Previous pharmacy experience (hospital or community)
* Experience of work‑based training and assessment
* Experience working independently and as part of a team
* NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
* Knowledge of pharmacy, stock management, drug names and terminology

Additional Information
