Lecturer in Props and Modelmaking

Salary - £38, - £43, per annum

This exciting role within the College of Creative Arts, Technology and Engineering is for a Lecturer in Props and Modelmaking to teach on our BA (Hons) SFX Props and Modelmaking for Film and TV programme as well as our MA Special Effects for Film and TV programme. You will also be expected to lead or co-lead one or both of these programmes.
This role requires versatile making skills across a range of materials and processes. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every criterion. We are particularly looking for talented individuals with experience of:
1. Set Dec
2. Hand props
3. Basic metalwork, including MIG welding
4. Metal lathe operation
5. General woodwork and carpentry skills
6. Fibreglassing
7. Foam use and material knowledge (PU foams, Rubbers, Plastics)
8. Vac Forming
9. Moulding and casting techniques, including gun moulds
10. Sculpting skills
11. CAD experience
12. 3D modelling and some experience with 3D printing technologies
13. Painting, ageing, and surface finishing
14. Weapons Creation
15. Leatherwork
16. Confident use of power tools and workshop equipment
17. Pattern Making
