ZeroAvia is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Systems Safety Engineer to support our system safety assessments for engine type certification applications and permit-to-fly test aircraft approvals from aviation regulators.

Main Responsibilities:
1. Conduct Qualitative and Quantitative Safety Analyses at System and Aircraft Level based on the ARP4761A standard (FHA, PSSA, SSA, FTA, FMECA, CMA, PRA, ZSA, etc.)
2. Generate safety requirements for the system and sub-system design teams and collaborate to ensure compliance
3. Create reasoned safety arguments for complex and novel systems and communicate these to relevant stakeholders
4. Support familiarisation and panel reviews with the UK CAA and other regulatory authorities
Requirements
Essential Experience/Qualifications:
1. At least 5 years of practical experience in a similar role
2. Aeronautical engineering degree or equivalent experience in aerospace industry
3. Strong working knowledge of Aircraft/System Safety Assessment following ARP4761A (or equivalent standard) including FHA, FTA, FMEA, CMA, etc.
4. Awareness of commercial aerospace certification regulations for aircraft and/or engines, e.g., Part 23/CS-23, Part 33/CS-E
5. Good working knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and ALARP justifications
Other Beneficial Experience/Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of safety assurance techniques for new safety-critical products/components
2. Experience with writing and managing system requirements
3. Knowledge of systems development following ARP4754 (or equivalent standard)
4. Knowledge of Reliability prediction techniques, e.g., MIL-HDBK-217F
5. Knowledge of Software Certification to DO-178C or Hardware Certification to DO-254
6. Previous approval as Part 21J Compliance Verification Engineer for Systems Safety
7. Experience working within a Part 21J Design Organisation environment
