Overview
Return to Nursing Practice - Unpaid Placement at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This clinical placement offers up to six months across a range of specialties. The placement consists of a minimum of 150 clinical hours over a minimum of 10 weeks and a maximum of 26 weeks, depending on experience. Alongside the clinical placement, you will need to attend the Return to Nursing Practice Programme at Bournemouth University to prepare for re-entry onto the NMC register. Theory is taught at the University. If you are wishing to undertake this course, you will need to apply additionally to BU. The programme is funded by NHS England. The placement element is unpaid.
Returning to nursing is a big decision and requires structured support. Dorset County Hospital Trust has a practice education team who will work closely with you and a Practice Assessor during the clinical practice placement. After completing the clinical placement and meeting the NMC requirements for Return to Nursing Practice, DCHFT will support your application for a Band 5 Preceptorship post.

* Return to Nursing Practice students undertaking this role will be expected to recognise and consistently work within the boundaries of the role whilst developing skills, knowledge and competencies to progress their education and training.

* Undertake a range of delegated clinical patient care duties and be expected to work under direct or indirect supervision of a registered practitioner.
* Assist in the overall implementation and evaluation of care as part of the multiprofessional team.
* Be expected to plan, implement, deliver and maintain high standards of patient care.
