We are seeking a skilled and experienced Counterbalance Forklift Operator/warehouse operative to undertake general warehouse duties in Coventry. This is a friendly warehouse team that handles a high volume of customer orders, and you will be an important part of this team, helping to ensure that orders are completed on time.
As a Counterbalance Forklift Operator/warehouse operative, you will be responsible for operating a forklift to move, stack, and organize materials within the warehouse. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will be crucial in ensuring the efficient and accurate movement of goods.
Duties of a Counterbalance Forklift Operator:
Core Responsibilities:
* Safe Forklift Operation:
* Operate the forklift safely and efficiently, adhering to all safety regulations and procedures.
* Maneuver the forklift in busy industrial environments.
* Regularly check the forklift for faults or damage.
* Load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, and containers.
* Move goods to and from storage areas, shelves, or pallets.
* Stack and unstack large quantities of goods.
* Ensure goods are properly secured for transport.
* Assist in shipping and receiving activities, verifying shipment accuracy.
* Palletize goods for shipment.
* Identify and label pallets for dispatch.
* Participate in basic picking and packing duties.
Material Handling & Warehouse Operations:
* Handle materials efficiently and safely, following proper procedures.
* Operate warehouse equipment and manage storage tasks effectively.
Skills and Requirements for a Counterbalance Forklift Operator:
* Valid accredited forklift operating license (e.g., RTITB).
* Thorough pre-use checks of the forklift before each shift.
* Hazard awareness to recognize and avoid potential hazards.
* Proficiency in load handling and stacking techniques.
* Operate the forklift at safe speeds and maneuver accurately, especially in confined spaces.
* Understanding of load stability principles.
Our client is a goods distributor looking for Warehouse Operatives to join their team on a temporary basis, with the possibility of permanent employment for the right candidate. The warehouse offers facilities such as a canteen, smoking area, free parking, and a locker room.
