About Us HMP Five Wells in Wellingborough represents a new standard for the future of prison design, incorporating innovative architecture and cutting-edge technology. As the UK’s first purpose-built, new resettlement Prison, opened in 2022, it stands as a unique model for category C prisons and has seamlessly integrated into the local community. G4S Care & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) boasts a successful track record managing four prisons, a secure training centre, and numerous community contracts across England and Wales. Our core philosophy centres on rehabilitating offenders, equipping them with the necessary skills to reintegrate into society upon release. We strive to create a prison environment that mirrors life outside, fostering a sense of normalcy as far as possible. Our overarching aim is to cultivate a safe and secure environment for both staff and prisoners. About The Role Reporting to the Head of FM, we are looking for a full time Electrician to undertake planned and reactive electrical maintenance to assets and services in order to maintain a safe and decent environment across the Prison. You will work within the FM team to meet operational and business Facility Management requirements. Some Of The Key Responsibilities Are Operate within planned maintenance procedures, effectively and safely Deal effectively and safely with breakdowns and damage to assets Where requested, prepare detailed maintenance reports for the Head of FM Carry out maintenance inspection and repairs to various types of heating, water, ventilation, electrical, mechanical and security equipment and services on site Diagnosing faults on all Mechanical & Electrical support systems and rectifying where necessary Following detailed drawings and operational maintenance manuals in order to carry out all planned maintenance, routine inspections and reactive repairs. Carry out maintenance inspection and repairs to various assets, building fabric throughout the prison estate, e.g. furniture, internal /external fixtures and fittings, grounds, access and car parking Working with other craft qualified, semi-skilled and non-skilled maintenance staff to develop cross-skilling and cover all levels and aspects of maintenance activities on a team work basis. Participate in emergency call out arrangements and provide cover where necessary Carry out maintenance activities to assist in project and improvement development works, offering alternatives to improve the effectiveness of the operation of the site, review current legislation / regulations Security awareness within a prison environment in respect to key locking and escorting maintenance contractors within the secure estate About You The ideal candidate will have proven experience as an Electrician and be fully qualified within an electrical engineering discipline (Level 3 NVQ diploma in Electrotechnical services or equivalent) and 18th Edition (IET) Wiring Regulations is required. It is key that you are flexible and adaptable to deal with ever-changing scenarios. You will possess strong organisational and communication skills and have experience of working within a fast paced environment.
