Overview of the role: join our professional win community and contribute to pursuing opportunities across our advisory, buildings, energy, transportation, and water and environment sectors. The role reports to a Win Team Lead and may include line management and coaching responsibilities in due course.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
* Work with unit teams to support capture planning in advance of pipeline pursuits
* Support capture planning on specific pursuits to maintain momentum, develop customer-focused solutions, and build preparedness
* Conduct research and intelligence gathering to identify competitors and opportunities for differentiation
* Collaborate with bid and project delivery teams to develop clear bid strategies, storyboards, and win themes
* Suggest appropriate bid team structures for each pursuit, coordinating with technical leads and win teams
* Take a hands-on role as Proposal Bid Manager to drive rigorous processes across a range of pursuits
* Ensure governance, best practice, and review processes are understood, embedded, and followed
* Agree and promote a clear proposal plan with activities, programme, and deliverables
* Facilitate communication across the proposal team (kick-offs, workshops, stand-ups)
* Manage proposal team performance and delivery, taking early action to address concerns
* Oversee and contribute to writing compelling responses to convince the client
* Ensure a clear plan for high-quality responses through storyboarding, templates, and review cycles
* Lead authoring of specific answers and model expected writing quality
* Participate in storyboard, draft, and production reviews to ensure clarity and high scoring
* Support post-submission activities to capture lessons and share knowledge for future pursuits
* Support the regional win community in embedding best practices across win activities
* Collaborate with other bid managers to share best practices and drive improvements
* Participate in region-wide webinars and forums as required
* Support the development of bid coordinators and broader ‘safe hands’ within technical teams
Candidate specification
Essential
* Experience of managing pursuits within the infrastructure industry
* Understanding of public and/or sector procurement processes
* Knowledge of techniques for planning, managing, and controlling bids
* Collaborative behaviours and ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail
Desirable
* APMP qualification and membership (foundation level or similar)
* Training in proposal and behavioural methodologies (e.g., Shipley, Miller Heiman, Mindflick)
* Proficiency in relevant software/systems (CRM, knowledge management, AI)
* Persuasive and persistent communicator who can win stakeholder buy-in
