What makes us truly unique is the opportunities we offer beyond the home — young people here can enjoy a range of activities like boxing, horse riding, and outings to local theme parks using their Merlin passes several times a year. We also provide tailored support for education through bespoke settings designed specifically to meet each young person’s individual needs. This holistic approach helps nurture their growth, confidence, and independence in a truly supportive community.
Tell us about the young people you are with and how they make you feel.
The young people we support have often had very difficult starts in life, but each of them is unique with their own interests, hobbies, and dreams. Every day is different and brings its own challenges, but working alongside them is deeply rewarding. Seeing their confidence grow and witnessing their small victories — whether it’s mastering a new skill or simply finding joy in an activity — makes all the hard work worthwhile. They inspire us with their resilience and remind us why this work matters so much.
How does your team come together to support the young people and each other?
Our team is dedicated, compassionate, and collaborative. We work closely with a wide network of professionals including clinical mental health workers, social workers, and ‘Be Safe’ teams, ensuring that all aspects of the young people’s wellbeing are supported. Regular communication and teamwork allow us to create consistent, positive environments for the young people. We also support each other, sharing knowledge, ideas, and encouragement to keep our care standards high and our spirits strong.
