What's involved with this role: Private Housing Sector Officer JM 118569 Hackney £26.44 per hour PAYE Contract length: 3 months 35-37 hours per week Location: Hackney, London Our Client is looking for a committed and proactive Private Sector Housing Officer to join our Client's Team. This role makes a real difference to residents’ lives by improving housing conditions, supporting disabled residents to live independently, and ensuring compliance in the private housing sector. You will: Inspect and assess housing conditions, taking action where needed under housing and environmental legislation. Process and monitor Disabled Facilities Grants and other adaptations to enable independent living. Assess and process property licence applications, including inspections and compliance monitoring. Take enforcement action against poor housing conditions and non-compliance with licensing requirements. Provide professional advice and support to residents, landlords and partners. Essentials: A Degree/Diploma in Environmental Health or equivalent housing-related qualification. Knowledge of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) (training desirable). Experience in housing inspections, enforcement, or grant/adaptation work (local authority experience desirable). Strong communication, casework and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage a varied caseload, deliver excellent service and work as part of a team. We will also add your details to our mail out lists.
