The Opportunity:

We are seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to join our Rugby Operations Workshop. You will be responsible for carrying out inspection and measurement activities, ensuring compliance with company and industry quality standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Success in this role comes from building effective working relationships with colleagues across the business, ensuring the QMS is functioning properly, advising on improvements, and providing training to enable others to achieve our high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

* Perform inspection and measurement checks of components against drawings and specifications
* Reverse engineer components where required
* Ensure adherence to company procedures across Rugby operations
* Conduct Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility (R&R) analyses for measurement systems
* Support APQP and FMEA processes
* Generate First Article Inspection Reports in accordance with AS9102
* Develop, review, and coordinate Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Plans
* Monitor, analyse, and report on key quality metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities
* Lead and support internal and external audits to meet customer and industry standards
* Investigate and close out non-conformances using 8D and A3 corrective and preventive actions
* Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure quality is embedded throughout manufacturing processes
* Conduct supplier site visits and audits for machining, fabrication, plating, stamping, and laser-cut components
* Oversee calibration of workshop and inspection measuring gauges
* Promote a culture of quality across the business and identify opportunities for process improvement
* Identify and deliver quality training for employees where required
* Competent use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP software

Qualifications, Experience & Personal Attributes:

* Electrical or mechanical engineering background
* Experience using mechanical measuring equipment
* Experience performing inspections and producing reports
* Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and AS9102 quality standards
* Skilled in Gauge R&R, MSA, and root cause analysis (8D, A3, Ishikawa, 5 Whys)
* Understanding of technical drawings and GD&T
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Excellent verbal and written communication
* Hands-on, pragmatic personality with a “can do” attitude
* Leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with teams
* Previous experience with rotating machines advantageous
* Experience in Six Sigma or lean manufacturing desirable
* Flexible and willing to work extended hours as required
