The role:
This role sits within our Business Continuity & Operational Resilience team, a specialist function dedicated to protecting the SJP Group from disruption. The team plays a critical part in ensuring our most important business services continue with minimal impact when incidents occur — and that we’re ready to recover quickly and effectively when they do.
This is a hands‑on, operational management role with real influence across the organisation. You’ll support the development, maintenance, enhancement, and delivery of the Group’s Business Continuity Management System (BCMS), working closely with stakeholders across the business.
We’re looking for someone with proven experience in Business Continuity, ideally gained within financial services, who enjoys building relationships, running engaging scenario exercises, and driving continual improvement.
What You’ll Be Doing
Our Business Continuity Management System is embedded across the Group’s core operational areas. In this role, you’ll take ownership of key elements of the framework, ensuring it is reviewed, tested, exercised, and continually improved.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the Head of Business Continuity & Operational Resilience in the design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of the Group BCMS.
2. Play an active role in Major Incident Response preparedness and response, supporting incidents that impact or could impact the SJP Group.
3. Design and deliver engaging scenario exercises that test readiness and strengthen response capabilities across the organisation.
4. Act as a trusted business partner to teams across SJP, building strong relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
5. Undertake third‑party due diligence, working closely with relationship managers and suppliers to assess business continuity capabilities and recommend improvements.
6. Provide training, guidance, and support to help teams develop, maintain, and enhance their business continuity plans.
7. Develop, review, and challenge business continuity documentation, ensuring proportionate and effective solutions are in place.
8. Manage the annual Business Continuity assurance programme, identifying risks, reporting findings, and agreeing actions arising from reviews and exercises.
9. Enhance the testing and exercising programme for both operational teams and Major Incident Response teams.
10. Produce MI and governance reporting for relevant teams, committees, and Boards.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Criteria
11. Strong understanding of the end‑to‑end Business Continuity lifecycle.
12. A recognised Business Continuity qualification, preferably MBCI or AMBCI.
13. Excellent stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to influence across an organisation.
14. Confident user of Microsoft 365, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
