Overview
Fantastic opportunity to work as part of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust's Children's Speech and Language Therapy team. 30 hours per week, term time only role working as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist. Opportunities may be available across a wide range of settings including special schools and mainstream schools. Newly qualified B5 therapists will be considered on a B5/B6 progression post. This position may involve working across a range of needs and ages, supporting children and their families at universal, targeted and specialist levels through the Balanced System approach. We are looking to appoint enthusiastic, committed and dynamic speech and language therapists who will provide an excellent service to the young people of Stockport.
We are currently recruiting to a number of positions which may cover mainstream or special schools, as well as other duties within the team covering all ages.
Responsibilities
The successful candidates will primarily be working in school settings across Stockport, though working with other ages may also be covered. The post involves working directly with children with a range of Speech, Language and Communication Needs and alongside their families, health care and education staff to provide universal and targeted intervention approaches as well as detailed assessment. This may be through 1:1, small group, whole class/school work and involves coaching and training for the wider workforce and/or parents. Qualifications and Requirements
* Degree/Masters level qualification or equivalent and membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists; HCPC registration.
* Experience of working with children as a Speech and Language Therapist in settings such as community clinics, child development teams, mainstream or special schools is desirable.
* Good grasp of the SEND Code of Practice, universal, targeted and specialist approaches; ability to work with partners to achieve outcomes; excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Essential: HCPC and RCSLT registration; ability to travel across Stockport with access to a suitable vehicle; willing to work within flexible arrangements.
* Desirable: relevant experience and additional skills as appropriate.
Other requirements
If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.50, to be deducted from the first Trust salary. It is also a condition of employment to join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.
Salary and Benefits
Pay scheme: Agenda for Change; Band 5; Salary £31,049 to £46,580 per year pro rata (term time only). Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Part-time, term time hours. Date posted: 12 September 2025.
