About the role
We are seeking a Clinical Research Governance Manager to join the team on a 12-month secondment, this role is open to internal applicants only.
Reporting to the Director of Compliance & Assurance, the Clinical Research Governance Manager will lead the implementation of approved proposals for a revised Clinical Research Governance Committee and associated oversight structures.
A central focus of the role will be establishing and supporting a new Secretariat for the Clinical Research Governance Committee. This will include developing Terms of Reference and membership arrangements, coordinating papers and reporting, and ensuring effective governance processes are embedded and sustained.
The postholder will also develop and enhance management information, reporting dashboards and oversight mechanisms to support better integration of health and care research governance across UCL. Working closely with colleagues across RIS, Faculties and other Professional Services teams, you will help to align processes, strengthen assurance and enable a culture of continuous improvement.
This is a highly collaborative role requiring engagement with senior stakeholders across the institution. You will contribute to the development of proportionate, risk-based governance approaches that both protect UCL and support the delivery of high-quality health and care research.
About you
You will bring strong knowledge of regulatory and governance frameworks relevant to health and care research within the Higher Education sector, alongside experience of supporting research governance, compliance or assurance functions in a research, healthcare, government or regulatory environment.
You will have experience of developing management information and reporting frameworks, and of working with senior stakeholders to influence change beyond your direct line of control. Confident operating in a complex organisational setting, you will be able to translate strategic objectives into effective operational delivery.
You will demonstrate excellent committee management skills, strong interpersonal and communication abilities, and sound judgement when handling sensitive or confidential matters. Highly organised and self-motivated, you will be comfortable balancing competing priorities and working to demanding deadlines.
