Main duties of the job
To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary CAMHS service for children and young people within the clinical governance structures and protocols of the service.
To undertake generic and specialist family therapy /systemic and neuropsychological assessments of children and families referred to the service based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources, including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care, including frontline workers in health, education, Social Services and the voluntary sector.
To formulate and implement plans for the formal family focused or individual systemic or psychological treatment and/or management of emotional and behavioural disorders in children young people and families, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
Working for our organisation
Kensington and Chelsea CAMHS is located near Earl's Court Station and High Street Kensington Station.
The team is well established and is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians. We aim to provide an accessible, flexible and responsive local service for patients and professionals working with children in the area using the whole range of therapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, systemic and family therapies, psychotherapy, psychoeducation and therapy groups and multi-family work. KCCAMHS consists of five main sub-teams: Emotional Disorders Team; Neurodevelopmental Team; Enhanced Treatment Team; Duty team; and under 5s Team. The post holder may be required to travel to other parts of the catchment area and / or wider service and trust as necessary, including working within the community (e.g. schools).
Our clinic is opened from 8am to 5pm. Although the standard working hours are 9am to 5pm, we will always consider applications for flexible working and compressed hours. There will be opportunities for home working, but clinicians will be expected to be in the clinic at least 60% of their working hours.

To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical, environmental and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group
In providing care to clients to liaise and work with family members and others involved in the client’s care, including CAMHS colleagues, frontline workers in health, education, Social Services, inpatients services and the voluntary sector.
To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans.
To provide specialist systemic, psychological and / or mental health advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals, contributing to clients’ formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
To contribute directly and indirectly to a systemic and psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings and agencies serving the client group.
To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.
To contribute to and implement policy changes and developments within the area served by the team/service,
To participate in the clinical Duty rota and initial CAMHS assessment clinics / specialist assessments as required.
To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care and to monitor progress during the course of multi-disciplinary care.
To actively participate in CAMHS additional areas of practice (participation, SEND, IPC, Health and Safety, Clinical work discussions etc.). This role will involve leading on one of these areas.

* First related graduate professional qualification ie social worker, nurse, psychologist.
* MSc Systemic Professional Qualification

* Previous related academic achievements i.e. Psychology degree
