Quantity Surveyor

Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 + Benefits

A growing independent consultancy is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their Northampton office. You’ll play a key role in delivering new build care homes, retirement living schemes and multi-bed residential projects, providing commercial leadership from feasibility through to final account.
This role offers the chance to work in a client-facing capacity, acting as a trusted advisor while shaping cost strategy on meaningful projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare pre-contract cost estimates, cost plans and budget forecasts.
* Lead tendering, subcontract procurement and bid evaluation.
* Produce Bills of Quantities (BOQs), Contract Sum Analyses (CSAs) and Change Valuation Records (CVRs).
* Manage contract costs, variations, claims, risk and final accounts.
* Advise on value engineering during design development.
* Attend site progress meetings, issue cost reports and liaise with project teams to manage change.
* Administer JCT/NEC contracts in collaboration with project managers.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships, presenting commercial advice confidently.
About You
* Background in a construction consultancy or client-side environment.
* Experience in new build residential / multi-bed / care or retirement living schemes.
* Skilled in cost planning, procurement, variations, and final accounts.
* Confident with JCT and/or NEC contracts.
* Excellent stakeholder and client-facing skills.
* Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (RICS chartered or working towards preferred).
* Full UK driving licence, with flexibility to attend sites when required.
