Offer description

Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for full details of responsibilities.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Tissue Viability Service in a leadership capacity. We are seeking a motivated and passionate individual with a strong commitment to education and improving patient outcomes in wound care.

If you are dedicated to making a real difference and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment, this role offers the chance to lead and innovate within a forward‑thinking team.

This position is Countywide (not limited to the Cambridge area).

Join us and help shape the future of tissue viability services across the county.

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is a health and social care organisation dedicated to providing high‑quality care with compassion to improve the health and wellbeing of the people we care for, as well as supporting and empowering them to lead a fulfilling life.

Our clinical teams deliver many NHS services, not only via inpatient and primary care settings, but also within the community. These services include children's, adult and older people's mental health, forensic and specialist mental health, learning disabilities, primary care and liaison psychiatry, substance misuse, social care, research and development.

To achieve our goal, we look to recruit high‑calibre candidates who share our vision and values. As an equal opportunities employer, we encourage applications from all sectors of the community, particularly from under‑represented groups including people with long‑term conditions and members of our ethnic minority and LGBTQ+ communities.

Regrettably, we cannot offer sponsorship for all our job roles. If you apply for a role that we cannot offer sponsorship for, unfortunately, your application form will be rejected from the process.

Key Responsibilities

* Support the Operational & Clinical Manager, Tissue Viability Nurse and Continence teams to provide a focussed Tissue Viability service across Cambridge and Peterborough NHS Trust, working closely with secondary care Trusts and nursing homes to provide a seamless service for patients. The role is predominantly concentrating on Tissue Viability, however input into continence services will be required.
* Manage a caseload of various wounds, autonomously and as part of multidisciplinary teams, utilising advanced assessment skills to prevent wounds and improve wound management in all patients. This includes preventing admission to secondary care and facilitating early discharge planning for patients with significant wounds to enable timely discharge.
* Work with the lead TVN to develop and strengthen tissue viability services across the county.
* Provide nurse education, both supporting and developing nurses and allied health professionals in tissue viability matters.
* Participate in Continuing Professional Development and evidence‑based audit and research projects.
* Be professionally accountable for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual patients with complex tissue viability matters.
* Organise the caseload efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
* Provide expert advice and guidance relating to tissue viability to patients, carers and health care professionals, including community, residential and nursing home staff working closely with secondary care and social services.
* Act as the patient’s advocate when appropriate and collaborate with other health and social agencies to facilitate the best outcome for the patient.
* Promote awareness of diverse patients with different needs and expectations and help the clinical manager to develop strategies to meet the challenges of providing high‑quality care.
* Ensure accurate and timely clinical records are maintained.
* Work with the clinical manager to design and review evidence‑based Tissue Viability policies and procedures that assure quality and meet professional requirements.
* Participate in research relevant to tissue viability.

Working Conditions and Requirements

* The role requires travel independently around the county, meeting strict time deadlines. Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have a personal vehicle. The use of public transport is not permitted, as it is not a reliable method to meet service needs.
* Applicants should confirm in their application that they meet the specified criteria regarding driving licence and vehicle.
