About the Role
At Turning Point, we are dedicated to supporting individuals with Learning Disabilities across England. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the daily lives of our residents, helping them develop essential living skills. This is not just a job; it’s an opportunity to grow both personally and professionally while making a meaningful impact.
Where Will You Be Working?
You will be providing support to adults with learning and physical disabilities at our purpose-built 4-bedroom bungalow, located just 4 miles from Wakefield Centre. Here, you’ll support a friendly group of residents aged between 54 and 70, all with unique abilities and interests. Your outgoing personality will be a perfect fit for our vibrant team!
We are looking for someone who can drive and is available for various shifts, including days, nights, and weekends. Your role will involve a person-centered approach, assisting with daily living, personal care, and community engagement.
We utilize a digital social care record system to streamline your tasks, allowing you to focus more on what truly matters—supporting the people we care for.
Shift Patterns
This is a 24-hour service, so flexibility is key! You will work a variety of shifts, including:
* 7:00 AM to 2:00/3:00 PM
* 2:00/3:00 PM to 9:00/10:00 PM
* Sleep-ins or waking nights
* Some weekends

Your Responsibilities
What Will You Be Doing?
This hands-on role means no two days will be the same! Your responsibilities will include:
* Promoting the independence of the individuals we support
* Assisting with daily activities such as cleaning, cooking, and outings
* Organizing engaging activities both at home and in the community
* Helping residents develop life skills and pursue personal interests
* Ensuring the safety and well-being of residents
* Providing personal care as needed
* Supporting with medication management
* Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service monitoring

What Skills and Qualities Do You Need?
While experience with learning disabilities is a plus, what truly matters is your passion and dedication. We are looking for someone who is:
* Enthusiastic, caring, and compassionate

* Excellent in communication
* Capable of handling the physical aspects of the role, including manual handling
* Experienced in helping individuals manage anxiety
