Anticoagulation Support Worker

University Hospitals of North Midlands is currently unable to provide sponsorship this role. This is in accordance with UKVI guidelines and legislation, as these roles do not meet the skill nor salary threshold for sponsorship. If you hold a graduate visa, you are welcome to apply for this role however it is important to note that UHNM will be unable to offer sponsorship at the end of your graduate visa, you must also have at least six months until your graduate visa expires at the start of your employment for training and operational reasons.

The Anticoagulation Support Worker role is to support the Anticoagulation Department, Anticoagulation Practitioners and Anticoagulation Associate Practitioners.

To be successful in this role you will require good organisational and communication skills and data inputting skills.

Attention to detail is essential as a large portion of work involves typing patient information into the DAWN patient database.

A full clean driving license and regular use of your own vehicle is essential.


Main duties of the job

Responsibilities include direct patient contact and taking finger-prick samples using a coagucheck machine determining the patients International Normalisation Ratio (INR). This is performed at community clinics at venues across Mid and East Cheshire and Vale Royal. We also have Anticoagulation Offices based at Leighton and Macclesfield Hospitals. In addition we also perform INR testing in patients homes.

Education and Qualifications

* Proficient in the use of Microsoft office; word, excel, access and PowerPoint.
* Be able to work within safe systems of work and report and deficiencies in the systems.
* Experience of data entry.
* Experience of community-based clinics.
* Experience in patient-facing roles.
* Qualification in patient-facing roles e.g. Care Certificate.
* Experience of working within an office environment.
* Have an awareness of Health & Safety issues.


Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

* Have good manual dexterity and coordination.
* Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
* Ability to prioritise workload.
* Ability to work autonomously and be accountable for own actions.
* Able to follow departmental standard operating procedures.
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
* Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and deal with situations in a sensitive manner.
* Good time management.
* Knowledge of the Anticoagulation Service.
