Purpose of the job:

This is a newly established role, initially a 6 month contract to support the delivery of a proactive and legally compliant HR service across the Black Mountain Client Base. The HR Officer/Generalist will provide day-to-day HR and employee relations support in addition to helping clients implement upcoming changes arising from the Employment Rights Bill including advising on and updating policies and documentation.

This role would suit an experienced HR Officer or HR Generalist who enjoys hands‑on employee relations work and is keen to support clients through a period of legislative change while delivering high‑quality, practical HR support.


Main duties and responsibilities:

* Provide advice to clients on a range of employee relation matters.
* Respond to general HR queries in a timely, professional and customer‑focused manner.
* Build good working relationships with clients in order to better understand their needs and provide appropriate HR‑related support.
* Support managers with early‑stage people issues escalating more complex or high‑risk cases where appropriate.
* Using HR information systems to access, input and compile data.
* Maintain accurate employee and case records.
* Support the review, update and implementation of HR policies, procedures and documentation to reflect legislative changes.
* Preparation of clear guidance and written materials for clients to support the understanding of policy and legal changes.


What skills are needed for this role:

* Previous experience in a general HR role providing operational HR and employee relations support
* Approachable and personable with good active listening skills.
* Open minded and empathetic, while still able to be firm when it’s required.
* Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence to advise clients.
* Well organised and strong attention to details with the ability to manage competing priorities.

This role is offered on a hybrid basis and can either be based near our Hereford or Basingstoke offices. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early should a sufficient level of applicants be found. We are not able to offer sponsorship with this position.

Pay: From £35,000.00 per year
