Swaay is looking for a dedicated Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team!
Who Are We?
For over 30 years, SWAAY have been providing specialised, high-quality residential care, education and therapeutic services for young males aged 11-18 with developmental trauma, attachment difficulties and who have displayed sexually harmful behaviour. We are widely recognised for the therapeutic services we offer and have contributed to research and literature in the field.
We work to reduce the risk these young people pose, meet their complex needs and help them manage their physical and behavioural difficulties, so that they can build healthy relationships and go on to lead fulfilling, rewarding and offence-free lives.
As our Speech and Language Therapist, you will work collaboratively for each young person and be responsible for holding your own speech and language caseload, including working with our diagnostics team to provide neurodevelopmental diagnosis. You will undertake assessments, deliver comprehensive reports and intervention plans, as well as develop and evaluate individual and group speech and language programs.
As part of your role, you will also provide guidance and training to staff as part of the whole organisation approach.
Experience/qualifications:
Qualified SALT and RCSLT registered
Hands-on experience working with individuals with social, emotional and mental health needs
Interaction between SEMH disorders and speech, language and communication needs
Experience working with young people with ADHD, ASD, FASD, anxiety
Advanced observational skills in formal and informal settings to guide SALT and neurodevelopmental assessment
Ability to interpret and manage complex/highly complex facts regarding caseload
Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams to develop formulations around complex cases
ADOS and ADI-R training (desirable)
Duties:
Undertaking specialist assessments of a young persons speech, language and communication skills (via observations, interviews with core staff or diagnostic speech and language sessions)
Writing comprehensive speech and language assessment reports
Conducting individual and group interventions with the young people residing at SWAAY and those referred for community-based services
Providing advice, guidance and training to other SWAAY employees
Working collaboratively with residential and education staff
Part time 2 -3 days flexibility
