CHP Lead
Location: Lisburn
Contract: Permanent
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
Reporting to the Island of Ireland Services + Facilities Lead, the CHP Lead ensures maximum performance of the CHP Plant through effective management of the maintenance strategy, HSE - prioritising the safety of the employees and the equipment and in compliance with CCH policies and procedures and the existing regulations, and in line with the strategic plans and budget.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Health and Safety
In the daily work, must prioritise the safety of people and equipment through strict compliance with established rules according with the internal standards by CCH. Must perform inspections, audits, ensure training is up to date, ensure all equipment maintained, verified and certified in time, must ensure H&S, KPIs improvements and timely performance of root cause and corrective actions.
Operations
* Ensure safe, reliable and commercially sound operation of KMH plant
* Ensuring safe, reliable, and commercially sound operation of the plant across all shifts
* Monitoring and operation of gas engines, with electrical capacity of 3 MW each
* Monitoring and operation of a carbon dioxide production unit, manufactured by Union
* Monitoring and operation of absorption chillers, manufactured by Carrier
* Monitoring and operation of other equipment, such as heat recovery steam generators
* Making plant load related and other operational decisions according to the relevant standard operating procedures.
* Ensuring GMP, including the cleaning of the site and equipment
* Monitoring automated chemical analysis equipment and performing basic chemical analyses for the assurance of the quality of the carbon dioxide
* Keeping accurate electronic and paper records to comply with the company's internal systems and procedures and the local, country-specific rules and regulations.
* Overseeing all aspects of operations at the plant site.
* Management and monitoring of a Planned Preventive Maintenance Programme
* Identification and correction of simple malfunctions of the CHP module, absorption chillers and carbon dioxide production unit
* Performance of planned maintenance on the gas engines according to GEJ maintenance schedule. This typically includes inspections, maintenance on valve clearance, ignition system, regulating rods, throttle valves, actuators, gas trains, oil filter inserts, crankcase vents, and pre-chamber gas valves.
* Performance of planned maintenance on the carbon dioxide production unit. This will typically include various inspections, replacement of oil in carbon dioxide compressors, replacement of activated carbon in carbon filters, replacement of activated alumina in dehydrators, cleaning of various components, such as exhauster impellers, the fins of electric motors, strainers and nozzles in scrubbing systems
* Timely performance of internal and external reports.
* Active interaction in the budgeting process.
* Performance of similar inspections and planned maintenance activities on other equipment, such as absorption chillers, heat recovery steam generators, etc.
* Ensure accuracy of the electronic and paper records related to the plant operations including CO2 quality and in compliance with the company's internal systems and procedures and the local, country-specific rules and regulations.
* Ensure timely performance of the needed maintenance to secure reliable operation of the plant and that these are properly recorded.
* Ensure that the preventive, predictive and proactive maintenance implemented for an effective use of the resources.
* Ensure minimising the operating cost both variable and fixed while still operating the plant to the highest standards.
* Ensure the plant is operated and maintained in order to comply with all of the legal and regulatory conditions as stated in the operating licence and other related documents and permits.
* Coordinates the optimisation of the plants operations to maximize the variable margin and minimize the fixed operating and variable costs while operating to the highest levels of availability, safety, and environmental standards
* Ensure CHP plant complies with all the respective operating licenses and other legal, regulatory and environmental requirements.
* Communication with the client's personnel & other stakeholders including state safety, environmental, technical inspection agencies and other relevant local government bodies.
* Active interaction with external local and state agencies in a professional manner while representing and protecting the interests of CCH.
Management
* Provide direction and oversight to Plant Employees including objective setting and performance reviews.
* Works to develop and enhance the skills of the Plant employees in general including planning of WEP and trainings for talents.
* Ensure engaging with the various Functions to ensure smooth plant operation and projects implementations.
* Direct supervision of all plant employees.

Essential Criteria:
* Engineering related degree or technical training / apprenticeship.
* Minimum 5 year experience in operation of electrical + mechanical equipment.
* Enhanced leadership skills
* Strong interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
* Effective organisational and communication skills.
* Ability to work in a fast paced cross functional environment.
* Ability to supervise contractors in the performance of routine services and breakdown maintenance.
* Experience of H+S practices such a LOTO
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience of managing CHP operations.
* HV trained.
